ECO
Reinforcement system for precast concrete panels
The ECO system is part of the B.S. Italia connection and reinforcement systems and is a reinforcement system designed for the production of lighter precast concrete panels, of any thickness and type, from traditional panels to those with special performance.
The system allows extremely rapid assembly and makes it possible to distribute stress correctly, limiting possible bows of the panel during production and handling phases.
Thanks to the greater stiffness given to the panel, ECO favours better stripping even with low mechanical strength concrete, contributing to the optimisation of production times and costs.
APPLICATIONS OF THE ECO SYSTEM
Production of lighter precast panels
The ECO system is designed for the production of lighter precast concrete panels, reducing the amount of concrete used while maintaining the performance required of the element.
Use on panels of different thickness and type
The solution can be used on panels of any thickness and type, from standard panels to those with special performance.
Application in ECO TT thermal break panels
The ECO TT thermal break panel exploits the characteristics of ECO reinforcement in terms of lightness, stiffness, speed and precision, adding a specific thermal break characterisation.
OPERATION OF THE ECO SYSTEM
Correct distribution of stress
The assembly of the ECO system makes it possible to distribute stress correctly, limiting possible bows of the panel.
Greater panel stiffness
The system gives greater stiffness to the panel, favouring better stripping even with low mechanical strength concrete.
This mechanical advantage during stripping can result in several production optimisations, such as reduced steam heating of the concrete, reduced cement dosage, earlier stripping time and fewer claims for initial panel deformation.
Collaboration between the two layers in ECO TT panels
In the ECO TT thermal break panel, the connection obtained with the ECO profile makes the two concrete layers collaborative, allowing the entire thickness of the panel to be considered for static purposes.
This structural concept makes it possible to keep the panel slenderness within recommended values and to contain its deformation within acceptable values.

Panel lightness
The system makes it possible to reduce the amount of concrete, obtaining panels that are approximately 20% lighter.
The reduction in weight results in lower transport impact, the possibility of using inserts with lower load capacity and greater thermal insulation.
Less labour and greater speed
The ECO system allows rapid assembly of the reinforcement frame, reducing the labour required during production phases.
The lightness of the components also allows a single operator to carry the beam on the shoulder and guarantees very fast profile cutting.
Production guarantees
The system configuration favours foolproof production, offering advantages even with less skilled labour.
The system also guarantees better control of rebar coating, coplanar reinforcement throughout the length of the panel and the elimination of typical problems of traditional beams when polystyrene is placed in contact with the beam.
Mechanical and thermal performance in ECO TT panels
The ECO TT system makes it possible to obtain greater mechanical and thermal performance with the same total panel thickness, compared with old-generation solutions.
The presence of the ECO profile allows the two layers to remain collaborative, while at the same time guaranteeing continuity of insulation and mechanical resistance of the panel.

Thanks to the connection obtained with the ECO profile, the two concrete layers are collaborative and the entire thickness of the panel can be considered for static purposes. This makes it possible to keep the panel slenderness, with sp/l ratio below 50 as the recommended value, and to contain the deformation of the element within acceptable values.
Thermal resistance of the ECO TT panel
The metal frame formed by the ECO profile makes it possible to position the insulation continuously, facilitating the positioning of all the necessary metal inserts in prepared reductions of the insulation.
This configuration makes it possible to obtain high thermal performance in compliance with current regulations.
Transmittance calculation
The transmittance calculation is performed with finite element analysis, which allows a correct evaluation of thermal bridges corresponding to variations in the section of the insulation material.
The use of the analytical method, unlike the simplified one, therefore makes it possible to develop transmittance values that better reflect the real behaviour of the panels.
