Continuity connection system for precast concrete elements

The B.S. Italia continuity connection system with seismic-resistant INJECTION SLEEVE for prefabricated concrete connections makes it possible to overcome the limitations traditionally present in connections between concrete structures.

The system makes it possible to achieve the fundamental objectives of correct structural design and to create a perfect emulation of cast-in-place structures in continuity connections.

APPLICATIONS OF THE INJECTION SLEEVE SYSTEM

Structural connections between precast elements

The system is developed for continuity connection applications between:

  • prefabricated columns and foundations;
  • two portions of prefabricated column;
  • wall and column;
  • column and beam.

The sleeve makes it possible to create a mutual interlocking bond between the parts, restoring the structural continuity of the reinforcement bars without requiring them to overlap.

OPERATION OF THE INJECTION SLEEVE SYSTEM

Connection by adherence between reinforcement bars and sleeve

The system exploits the principle of adherence by means of a cement matrix between reinforcement bars and sleeve, guaranteeing a situation of perfect continuity between concrete structures, typical of in-situ concrete structures.

This configuration represents a particularly effective solution from the point of view of seismic performances in continuity connections.

TECHNICAL DATA AND DESIGN SUPPORT

Wet sealing using B.S. Grout

The filling of the sleeve by injection and of the space between the structures is completed on site by wet sealing using B.S. Grout.

The mortar, developed through cooperation between Mapei and B.S. Italia, is a high-strength, doubly expansive mortar – during setting and hardening – , designed to give high performance to the RS continuity connection.
